Full Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accounting
-Enter journal entries for the general ledger monthly
-File and pay monthly and quarterly tax reports
-Serve as backup for Finance Director in designated duties
-Reconcile bank accounts monthly
-Reconcile PayPal account monthly
-Prepare grant budget revisions as necessary
-Assist in month-end closing procedures, including performing various reconciliations, and preparing month end reports for review
2. Grant Reporting
-Prepare grant reimbursement requests and associated invoices and submit same to funding sources on time
-Responsible for helping ensure grant funds are spent appropriately and timely
-Work as liaison for agency and grant providers-Request approval for purchases within grants
-Help to establish budgets for renewing and/or new grants
-Work with Division Managers on specified grant reporting tasks
3. Compliance
-Prepare documentation for individual grant audits as well as annual agency audit
Requirements
SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible to the Finance Director for assistance with the daily operational accounting of the Family Counseling Center program. This position is non-exempt. The incumbent of this position must have a commitment to
performance and quality improvement and will agree to uphold and carry out the agency's PQI policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
The incumbent of this position will have prior training and experience in the accounting field. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in accounting or an accounting degree. In addition, the candidate will have effective verbal and written communication skills. Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function. All records maintained by this person will meet the standard for agency accreditation. Cultural sensitivity is an integral part of this position.

-Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate clearly in English
-Must be able to use hands, fingers, and wrists, repetitively, using a keyboard and adding machine
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Must be able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses and hear and speak clearly with or without aids
-Must be able to use hands – specifically using a computer keyboard and other office equipment
-Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and with assistance, if necessary
-Must be able to sit stand, walk, squat bend, and reach overhead regularly
WORK CONDITIONS:
Works in an indoor office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
