Job Description: ACT1 Federal is seeking a Full-time employee specializing in Arctic security policy, to support the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies (TSC), the newest of six Department of Defense Regional Centers.
As an Arctic security policy specialist, you will be trusted to work closely with TSC leadership and staff, academics, subject matter experts, and U.S. and foreign government officials, to develop program themes and topics for various strategic engagement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Working within the TSC Strategic Engagement Division to develop topics and themes for TSC-hosted events, as well as for participation of TSC personnel in externally-hosted events.
- As the Center expert on Arctic security, developing content and topics for discussion via plenary lecture and/or to be addressed via a panel of experts; content should be focused on various aspects of Arctic security.
- Coordinating with the hosting organization (if not a TSC-hosted event); coordinating with subject matter experts, academics, scientists, etc. as well as senior U.S. and foreign government officials.
- Communicating with individuals internal and external to the Center regarding the event, topics, content, etc.
- Working with the TSC's Research and Analysis Division and School of Arctic and Climate Security Studies to integrate applicable content into and between programs, events, and courses.
- Coordinating w/ TSC Public Affairs Officer and the Strategic Engagement Cell to ensure TSC activities and events are appropriately reported in the public sphere.
- Coordinating with TSC logistics/event planners, TSC budget analysts, other internal resources, and external agencies to secure materials and services necessary for the execution of events and activities.
- Conduct other duties as assigned that are within the scope of this position.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Must have knowledge of Arctic Security matters and Foreign and/or Defense Policy.
- Must be able to coordinate with potential speakers, panelists and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop themes or topics for events.
Preferred:
- Interpersonal skills to interact with senior personnel, academicians, diplomats and embassies.
- Experience coordinating programs, conducting administrative briefings, and coordinating content planning to support programs.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
