Progress Arizona seeks a full-time Digital Director to help reach organizational and electoral goals by strategically utilizing digital campaigns and tools.
Who We Are
Progress Arizona serves as Arizona’s progressive communications and digital hub. Utilizing earned media, social media, story collection, and research, we work to craft broader narratives that speak to the values of Arizonans focused on protecting and expanding voting rights, abortion access, LGBTQ+ protections, and public education. We work ground up from our partners and have a large and growing network of local, state, and national partners, including community organizations, labor unions, and grassroots groups. We also have a significant online reach, an active Instagram and TikTok, and strong relationships with reporters and policymakers.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and manage Progress Arizona’s digital campaigns, social media, and acquisition strategies for the organization through paid digital advertising, social media, website, and project websites
- Oversee, develop, and execute comprehensive digital communication strategies across email, mobile, and web channels, ensuring consistency and integration with social media and advertising efforts.
- Work with department leads to integrate their program plans into the wider organizational digital strategy
- Support the digital organizing team in the growth and implementation of digital relational organizing tools
- Collaborate with Progress Arizona staff on projects, content, and organizational priorities
- Serve as the main liaison between digital and communications vendors, ensuring appropriate benchmarks and metrics are met
- Support the organizing team with story collection, identifying subjects/issue areas for story banking, utilizing the stories that have been banked for paid digital media
- Track digital trends and integrate new technologies into the organization
- Ensure brand adherence on digital platforms
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are/Must Haves
- Skilled in digital strategy: Develop mission-driven plans to reach target audiences and achieve results. Demonstrated track record with media relations, branding, digital marketing, writing, public speaking, and web/social media. Experience with Spanish language communication and digital strategies a plus.
- Produces compelling written and digital materials: Aims for accuracy and attention to detail. Can learn, internalize, and incorporate our “voice” across platforms. Organizes and shares information effectively — whether writing an internal email or delivering a presentation.
- Proactively learns new tools: Stays ahead of the curve in an ever-changing technology environment.
- Keenly aware of the power of language and representation: Uses references and examples that speak to the experiences of a diverse audience, particularly the communities we aim to reach.
- Commitment to social justice & racial equity: Recognizes the role of race, gender, and other identities in shaping health disparities, is driven to improve conditions, and proactively learns re: race, equity, and identity
- Metrics: Implement and manage robust tracking systems to monitor and analyze performance metrics across all digital channels, providing regular reports with actionable insights.
- Strategy: Establish and enforce best practices for cross-channel collaboration, ensuring a consistent narrative and messaging across digital channels.
- Digital Advocate: Harbor a working knowledge of digital activism; racial, gender, and economic justice; and familiarity with organizing environments; and be keenly attentive to political and current events.
Requirements
- Experience in digital communications and strategy, with the ability to craft compelling and impactful messages for online audiences.
- 3 years of experience in issue-based or political advocacy.
- Proven track record of motivating a cross-functional team of digital strategists.
- Proven track record in fostering collaboration and building consensus among cross-functional teams, ensuring a unified approach to achieve common goals.
- Proficiency in implementing and managing robust tracking systems to monitor and analyze digital metrics, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Benefits
The position is full-time and is ideally based in the Phoenix area (although we can have flexibility on candidates located elsewhere in Arizona for the right candidate). The role requires in-person attendance on Mondays and Thursdays. The salary for this position is $72,000. We also offer medical, vision, dental, cell phone, and home wifi stipends, life insurance, a 401k with company match, and paid time off.
