Requirements
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school
- Completion of a residency/fellowship program (Internal Medicine specialize Gastroenterologist)
- Board Certification: Physician(s) shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM.org)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS
- License: Valid and unrestricted medical license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
- physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered.
- Must hold a DEA
- Need NPI Number
- Strong knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions and diseases
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- MUST BE A US CITIZEN
Intraoperative Follow-up: Shall be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology procedures.
Shall provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
Clinic duties: Perform endoscopic procedures in GI lab, staffing and supervising GI fellows in endoscopy lab and inpatient consult service, supervising Fellows in gastroenterology clinic when required.
Operative Services: Shall provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology services including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures. Typical procedures include EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCP’s, but are not limited to the procedures defined by the CPT codes below:

43237: EGD with endoscopic ultrasound examination limited to the esophagus, stomach or duodenum and adjacent structures.
43239: EGD with biopsy
43244: EGD with band ligation of esophageal/gastric varices
43247: EGD with removal of foreign body
43255: EGD with control of bleeding any method
45378: Colonoscopy, diagnostic
45380: Colonoscopy with biopsy
45385: Colonoscopy with removal of tumors, polyps or other lesions by snare technique
43260: ERCP

VA Business Hours:
Normal Business Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
Clinic Schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Rotating weekends and holidays.
Rotating weeks after normal working hours call coverage. 4:30pm – 7am
Patients must be seen on-site at CAVHS in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult completion.
