Herman Scheer is a brand consultancy that creates brands, products, and experiences for businesses that keep people healthy. We focus on a range of sectors, including disruptive healthcare, wellness technology, healthy food and beverages, fitness and recreations, and personal care. We have a 15-person team that is primarily remote with an office space in Santa Monica for occasional in-personal meetings and working sessions.
From early and late-stage start-ups to mid-market enterprises across several different industries; our work always begins with categorical and cultural insights that we leverage into our strategies across brand, social, and campaign-oriented creative work.

As an Account Director, you will be a key strategic partner for Herman-Scheer clients and point of contact to the internal team. We're looking for an Account Director obsessed with building and growing client relationships with emerging and established brands. You will be working alongside our CEO and other Account Directors to facilitate the successful planning, execution, and delivery of HS services.
Candidates must reside in California, Los Angeles-area preferred, as some in-office collaboration will be required. Compensation for this role is $110,000 - $140,000.
What you'll do:
- Strategic and Creative Consulting
- Cultivate a relationship with clients to understand their business goals, challenges, and opportunities that can be solved through HS creative services.
- Develop and execute creative strategies to help clients achieve desired success and outcomes.
- Thorough understanding of the creative process with the ability to 1) lead projects from conception to final execution, and, 2) guide clients through process, while articulating its value add to their business
- Lead special strategic initiatives, such as elevating our process and offering in research, to improve our service offerings and differentiate ourselves from competitors
- Client Management + Development:
- As the main point of contact with clients (founders and senior leadership), build and maintain strong strategic, commercial relationships, proactively addressing clients’ needs, and identifying opportunities to upsell or cross-sell our services.
- Effectively communicate all day-to-day project related developments, taking into account the creative process as well as the client’s business objectives. Guide clients through the creative execution process while articulating its value, managing all stakeholders expectations at any moment of a project timeline.
- Be an active contributor to the work, as the person who understands the client’s business objectives the best. Make sure work is on-strategy, and likely to deliver commercial benefit to the client.
- Ensure that clients are consistently satisfied with our services by providing consistent communication, exceptional customer service, delivering projects on time and on budget, and anticipating and addressing any issues before they become problems.
- Lead communication with and manage third party relationships in particular production partners, being the liaison between the client, them, and HS teams.
- Project Execution
- Collaborate with Creative Directors to create new business estimates based on approach, resource, and timing needs.
- Create and maintain oversight of project finances, from invoice creation, expense tracking, margin monitoring and reporting upon project completion,
- Create and oversee critical project infrastructure such as Forecast project plans, Google Drive folders, and Slack channels.
- Create and lead meaningful project briefs.
- Be the point of contact for the internal project team, ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary context and tools. Ensure creative executions meet the client’s scope and expectations. Support the creative process by facilitating internal milestones and regular check-ins to address challenges before they arise
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and leverage this knowledge to provide strategic guidance to clients and internal teams.
- Thought Leadership:
- Through your growing industry knowledge, contribute 2-3 thought leadership pieces to Herman Scheer’s marketing output.
Requirements
What you'll bring
- 5-7+ years working at an agency, start-up or similar environment in a sales, account management, or customer success role.
- Comfortable working autonomously in an ambiguous environment.
- Detail-oriented and skilled in time and deadline management.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple clients and projects at once and at high speed.
