Pay Range: $19.53 - $25.63/hour
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Active Living Program Supervisor, will work with the Active Living Program team to plan, organize, and direct therapeutic recreation programs to affect improvement in the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents. Active Living Program Guide will promote the spiritual, emotional, educational, recreational, and social needs of residents on a group and individual basis. Will be able to prepare, coordinate, and provide directions to Clinical and Social Services staff for implementation of care plan interventions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing the Active Living programs of this community.
- Complete event requests for environmental and dietary needs for specified events in a timely manner using WorxHub reservation system.
- Notifies Nursing of any immediate change in the residents' condition and/or participation.
- Maintains resident care and safety on off-campus outings.
- Attend department team meetings and in-services designated for team members.
- Will be oriented to programs in the areas of independent, assisted, and memory care and will be required to provide programming on those levels of care as assigned.
- Attend and participate in continuing education programs, in‑services, workshops, and seminars to keep abreast of current changes and research in geriatrics.
- Coach and support residents upon move-in and those living in the community to promote a wellness lifestyle and the intrinsic benefits associated with a way of life that values growth.
- Develop and implement therapeutic activities designed for visual and hearing-impaired residents including individual projects/individualized programs.
- Cooperates and communicates with co-workers and establishes good working relationships with all departments.
- Assist with the development of the monthly calendar in accordance with resident therapeutic, educational, and diversionary needs, state, federal and corporate criterion, Liv Well Monitors, Social Services, Environmental Services, Dietary, and other departments. Post and communicate any changes or updates to the calendar throughout the community via in-house channels, daily announcements, audio recording, flyers and/or digital signage.
- Maintain log or daily record regarding residents’ involvement in recreation programs, as appropriate.
- Maintain regular attendance and arrive to work on time; complete time sheet appropriately as needed. Must be flexible with work hours; occasional weekends, holidays and some evenings required.
- Coordinate with nursing staff in preparing residents to go to and from recreation activities and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
- Two years recent experience in a social or recreation program, one year of which was full time employment in providing and facilitating programs to the senior population with different dynamics and skill levels in a health care setting.
- Must have well-developed Microsoft Word and Excel skills and ability.
- Must have the ability to think creatively and communicate ideas to staff and residents.
- Experience working in an OBRA and Title 22 regulated setting preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities listed, typically:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Class “B” License may be required as determined by the job position.
- Activities Director certification preferred.
