Full Job Description

The Bethel Store Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of Bethel Store and its Web Store, contributing to the strength of Bethel Church of Redding, and ensuring the store operates as a profitable business unit for Commerce. In this capacity, the manager is tasked with driving innovation, hitting sales goals, overseeing stock control, customer support, loyalty programs, website management, online catalog maintenance, hitting profitability goals, overseeing departmental budgets, staff training, hiring, and cultivating meaningful relationships within the environment. This role requires providing strategic leadership for the bookstore and webstore under the guidance of the Commerce Senior Manager and the Bethel Commerce leadership team. Successful execution of company visions, adherence to core values, and the promotion of a culture of excellence are integral aspects of this position. The Bethel Store Manager is also responsible for setting a high standard for customer engagement, product placement, and service expectations. 

Salary: $39,520 to $43,680 per year

Hours: 40 hours per week

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Business Growth:

  • Drive top-tier sales results and foster business growth through actionable insights.
  • Monitor sales progress against key targets and lead a productive store environment, ensuring staff has the skills to meet sales and customer engagement goals.
  • Manage labor and payroll expenses effectively to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Prioritize top product drivers to enhance customer loyalty and support organizational culture.
  • Innovate with monthly marketing initiatives, experimenting with at least one per month, measuring and reporting on success.

Human Resource Management:

  • Attract, recruit, and hire the right talent.
  • Oversee direct reports, onboarding, training, development, and performance management.
  • Address staff performance, providing immediate feedback and taking appropriate action.
  • Ensure compliance with employee record-keeping policies, maintaining an Open Door Policy.
  • Model respectful behavior, valuing diversity, and upholding Bethel's integrity and values.

Team Building and Management:

  • Provide relevant information, mentoring, and feedback to ensure the success and growth of the Bethel Store team.
  • Establish performance goals, measure success monthly, and report to leadership.
  • Build high-performing teams for retail sales both on the sales floor and online, including flexibility for pop-ups and special events.
  • Offer comprehensive guidance through coaching, clear directives, and support in achieving sales goals.
  • Lead the store team in customer service, brand identity, product knowledge, operations, and software usage.
  • Understand, demonstrate, and enforce company values.
  • Manage complex priorities with effective time management and organizational skills.

Customer Experience and Branding:

  • Ensure an authentic brand experience for customers, creating brand ambassadors within the community.
  • Model and monitor brand-specific service standards both in-store and online.
  • Seek win-win solutions for customer concerns, fostering a positive and valued customer experience.
  • Cultivate a customer-centric culture, participate in community engagement, and execute well-planned events.
  • Leverage visual merchandising for an enticing in-store and online experience.

Operational Excellence:

  • Effectively manage operating expenses, adhering to monthly budgets and making decisions with profitability in mind.
  • Maintain optimal inventory supply and levels.
  • Ensure Bethel Store appearance, equipment functionality, and cleanliness.
  • Strategically schedule staff to meet payroll targets and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures meticulously, ensuring compliance with company policies.

Online Platform:

  • Provide tactical support for the Shopify software system.
  • Update and fix the Shop.Bethel website backend regularly.
  • Create online campaigns aligned with new products and cultural events.
  • Delegate tactical support to execute larger online projects.
  • Collaborate with the Commerce Senior Manager and the Creative team to stay in step with KPIs and budgets.
  • Make data-based decisions in product offerings and marketing in our email blasts and social media.

Loss Prevention, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Build awareness and capability in loss prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Protect company assets, react promptly to injuries, and collaborate with Human Resources.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience leading teams
  • 2+ years in management  
  • 2+ years in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales and profit results
  • Proven ability to meet business goals by driving results through store team

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Operate equipment and technology (i.e., computers, phones, copiers, etc.)
  • Usage of Project Management software lending support from Media ops team for practical application
  • Standing required for an entire work shift, bend, lift, open, and move product up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Travel (less than 10% of the time). Locally, to and from other Bethel locations
  • May be required to work weekends, Holidays, and outside M-F 9-5 business hours
