Company Description
Amprius develops, designs, and manufactures very high-performance lithium-ion cells for advanced applications. Amprius invented and perfected a 100% silicon anode that enables the highest energy density cell commercially available in the industry.
Summary
Amprius is looking for a Cell Assembly & Testing Technician to join the R&D team of technicians, engineers, and scientists to conduct R&D experiments, including single-layer and multi-layer pouch cell assembly, set up the cells for testing, and electrode inspection. The candidate must be reliable and able to communicate with engineers and supervise the projects as requested. This is a TEMP role with an opportunity to be converted to PERM.
Job Responsibilities
- Use small equipment and hand tools to produce components and battery cells.
- Set up multi-layer and single-layer cells for testing, including formation, capacity check, and cycling.
- Operate large equipment safely and efficiently.
- Measure materials with micrometer, mass scale, digital multi-meter, and caliper.
- Visually evaluate defects from a list of standard defects
- Input data into quality management software.
- Assemble components into a physically complete cell.
Requirements
- Experience with battery testing equipment such as Arbin and Neware.
- Pay attention to details and different recipes and formulas for cell fabrication.
- Adhere to the company’s quality and safety requirements. Committed to environmental health and safety.
- Strong work ethic, high accountability, and good communication skills.
- Clear written and verbal skills to communicate your observations and ideas and collaborate with colleagues to tackle technical challenges.
- Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced, technically stimulating environment and quickly adapt to changes and achieve results.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- At least one (1) year of experience as an Equipment Operator or Technician in one of the following industries: Semiconductor, Solar, Battery, Electronics, or Automotive.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Demands and Working Location:
- Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required.
- Sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to perform work in cleanroom, dry room, or fume hood that requires the use of fine motor skills for extended periods of time, standing, reaching, and twisting motions with hands, and moving/lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
