The Role
As a Chassis Engineer you’ll collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds in areas such as AI, robotics, mechatronics, planning, machine learning, control, localization, computer vision, rendering, simulation, distributed computing, design, and automated testing. You will be challenged to rethink what it means for hardware design to arrive at elegant andefficient systems now that a robot is in control. Working at a startup gives you the chance to manifest your creativity and make a big difference in the final product.
The candidate will have experience with chassis control systems and vehicle system engineering with strong skills in electrical system communications, system performance assessment and the relationship between vehicle level and component system performance and problem solving.
The candidate will be a member of the chassis actuators team and interface with a wide range of vehicle, software and operations team members. The scope includes the chassis elements of active suspension, brake and steering systems including mechatronic units, hydraulic pumps, valves, accumulators, and electronic controllers. The candidate will also have experience interfacing with electrical systems and software groups. You will collaborate with different engineering teams for functional safety, vehicle control strategies, testing, trouble shooting and software acrost a group of experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision and Robotics from all teams.
Responsibilities:
- You will plan and coordinate the vehicle level chassis controls activities and development
- You will integrate and implement the new controllers and firmware in Development Fleet
- You will collaborate with internal engineering teams and suppliers to system performance, execute engineering disciplines and cascade performance assessment to the components
- You will collaborate with different teams for functional safety, vehicle control strategies, testing and trouble shooting
- You will evaluate the static, dynamic, structural and thermal-mechanical performances of mechanical assemblies
- You will optimize the design and build of our Prototype Development Fleet
- You will collaborate with different teams for manufacturing, assembly and bring up of the robots.
- You will collaborate with experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision and Robotics from all teams.
Requirements
Qualifications
● Bachelors degree in mechanical (or related) engineering – Masters or Phd a plus
● Experience in vehicle engineering
● Extensive experience with vehicle systems communications and control strategies - CAN
Network skills
● Understanding of mechanical systems design, hydraulic systems, and system architecture
● Experience in testing and vehicle development
● Strong communication skills with peers, management, manufacturing, and suppliers
● Knowledge of automotive program development/release process and long term schedule
planning
● Good team and collaboration skills
