Overview
Scriber is a technology company that enables video creators, nonprofits, and others to more effectively reach their fans via paid subscriptions, kind of like a “Substack for video, via text.”
Scriber launched in 2022 with the Jonas Brothers as the headline creators.The company has a patent pending “one click video play” technology that turns a still image, sent through SMS, into an immersive, full-screen, vertical video experience, both for pre-recorded videos and live-streaming.
Our technology enables creators to deliver compelling video, as well as tickets and rewards, early access to products, subscriber-only discounts, and member polls… in short, the full gamut of subscription-based engagement features.
The company has been operating in beta and currently hosts a ‘parenting’ creator, has a strategic relationship with Estate Media, and is moving forward on a deal with Everytown for Gun Safety. Our beta period has taught us that celebrities are likely not the ideal creator base for our product. Our hypothesis is that the most promising “creator” segments for us will be brands, sports teams, nonprofits (to support recurring donations), real estate, and other niche creators with passionate followings. Under the right leadership, our technology can become a category-defining product.
We are looking for a seasoned CEO to join the business, drive our next round of go-to-market validation and execution, and then work to grow the business as we find traction in promising segments.
We are looking for a CEO with strong go-to-market skills, experience in sales and consumer software, with a focus on validating customer segments and then building momentum via marketing and sales. You will manage the day-to-day of the business and use market insights to inform the product roadmap, ultimately driving traction and revenues.
Requirements
- A demonstrated passion for developing and commercializing new consumer software products.
- Years of "360" executive experience building teams, developing offerings, driving revenue, and scaling organizations.
- Experience working in products or services related to influencers, creators, or other personality-driven engagement models.
- Executive experience managing P&Ls in consumer software products or apps, ideally with a focus in communications, messaging, or other adjacent products.
- Experience building a startup or scaling a company that you founded, or similar.
- Ability to build diverse, high-performing teams.
