Full Job Description
TVHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center in the East Bay with 20 locations: ten primary care clinics, five school-based sites, three mobile vans, and two administrative locations, 400 employees, multiple service lines, and an operating budget of over $50M.
This collaborative and innovative organization provides valuable healthcare services to over 30,000 patients in the community including some of the most underserved populations with comprehensive services including medical, dental, optometry, podiatry and behavioral health care, WIC, youth health services, health education, and more.
Why join the TVHC Team?
As the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), you will be the key clinical leader of an established Federally Qualified Health Center with an operating budget of over $50M and an operational footprint that spans ten service sites in the East Bay (including the cities of Hayward, Ashland, Castro Valley Union City, and Fremont).
You will work side by side with the CEO and a committed leadership team to build our clinical service operations strategy, establish the roadmap to operationalize that strategy, and to build mission-driven and innovative teams to ensure continued impact in the lives of our patients and community.
You get the best of both worlds – you get to be a healthcare strategist and a hands-on leader preparing in continuing to lay the foundation as TVHC innovates and lays the foundation in health care transformation, and bridging culture.
Join a healthcare organization that has enough scale and resources to make a significant impact in the community while still retaining speed and agility in decision-making and a “work-family” environment.
What are we looking for in our CMO?
The CMO must be an experienced, strategic, and emotionally intelligent healthcare professional, who is seeking a meaningful leadership role in a successful and well-respected organization.
As a CMO, you must meet TVHC’s Core Values of being resilient, people-centered and collaborative. You must be able to thrive in a culture that values high-performance and encourages innovation and drive.
The CMO is an essential contributor to TVHC’s growth planning process, and will help shape the future of a fast-growing, financially and organizationally healthy health center – creating and building cohesive teams, aligning around our strategic goals and creating clarity around those goals, while executing those goals effectively.
The CMO must have a high-level of clinical experience, business acumen, a strong command and technical knowledge of operational and clinical metrics and dashboards, and an understanding of budgets, financial statements and reports.
The CMO must be hands-on, lead by example and motivate staff to deliver measurable, accountable, cost-effective results that further the mission of the organization.
Ideal candidate will:
Agree with and will whole-heartedly champion our value statement: We provide affordable access to quality health and wellness services. We do it by facilitating whole person care, providing efficient access to services and engaging in strategic partnerships.
Embrace change, innovative, and readily contribute to team problem-solving and have a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude when facing complex problems.
Be the kind of person who understands and can hold the tensions between quantity and quality when it comes to patient access and provider productivity, NP/PA/CNM provider training, and cycle time and patient volume demands.
Be involved in working with our community partners and contribute as a thought leader.
