Position Summary:
BEAM Circular is looking for a Community Partnerships Manager who will develop and implement local community education and capacity-building programs, develop and pilot community-driven projects, and engage local communities and diverse partners in the ongoing planning of BEAM Circular initiatives. As part of this work, the Community Partnerships Manager will develop and implement local outreach strategies, develop strategic partnerships, coordinate a Community Steering Committee, and manage a variety of Community Prosperity programs that deepen local engagement in regional circular bioeconomy development efforts, support equity and inclusion across BEAM Circular’s initiatives, and advance the wellbeing of disinvested local communities.
The Community Partnerships Manager will serve as an ambassador and liaison for the BEAM Circular initiative among diverse local organizations, community groups, and key strategic stakeholders in the North San Joaquin Valley. They will be integral to facilitating collaboration, maintaining consistent communication with partners, and ensuring regional economic development efforts center and benefit disinvested community members.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement community engagement and education strategies to build local capacity, inform local communities of opportunities in the circular bioeconomy, and create opportunities for public feedback, accountability, and participation in BEAM Circular projects.
- Manage the development of a portfolio of collaboratively designed projects that advance community wealth-building opportunities in the circular bioeconomy sector.
- Conduct comprehensive social and environmental impact studies for all significant projects before implementation, ensuring that community interests are safeguarded.
- Build strong relationships with key strategic stakeholders and community partners across the region and lead outreach efforts to identify potential partners and community-based collaborators for BEAM Circular projects and initiatives.
- Support the CBIO Collaborative's efforts to engage the community in regional innovation engine activities and develop strategies for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
- Represent BEAM Circular at local events and meetings, speaking to the organization's mission, goals, and progress and providing education on the circular bioeconomy.
- Work with BEAM Circular’s communications team to develop and distribute educational materials to diverse audiences.
- As a senior member of the BEAM Circular team, participate in miscellaneous project and event support, as requested, to support the BEAM Circular team development and mission.
- Upon request, support and advise the BEAM Circular leadership team with planning and execution of team development and planning activities, e.g., offsites and strategic planning sessions.
- Present a positive view of the BEAM Circular to the community.
- May drive on company business.
- Comply with all BEAM Circular policies and procedures, including but not limited to workplace safety, reporting work-related injuries, Infection Control, and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients, and others.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and group facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading education activities and/or public speaking in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead new projects with limited direction
- Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship development capabilities, with a sophisticated ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience supporting cross-cultural communication and collaboration.
- Educational or professional experience relevant in a science or technology-driven field preferred but not required.
- Ability to learn about and translate scientific and technical content into accessible information for a variety of audiences.
- Community organizing or related community engagement experience preferred.
- Experience with the engagement of public and local government authorities preferred.
- Communications or marketing experience a plus.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
- Candidate must be based in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, or Merced counties and able to travel for in-person meetings across the region.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years professional experience required
- Master’s in Public Affairs or similar graduate studies / additional years of experience preferred
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a typical office environment approximately ninety-five percent (95%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at the workstation for up to eight hours.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- May occasionally move (walk or drive) from one work location to another.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, and climb stairs.
- Ability to move and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Visual Acuity (Far/Near).
- Regular and Consistent Attendance.
Benefits
Compensation:
- Pay based on experience. Salary range is $80,000 to $100,000 with a competitive benefits package.
- Position based in Modesto, CA. Hybrid work arrangements permitted.
