JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the SVP HR & Talent Acquisition, the Head of Human Resources is responsible for oversight of Model/Z’s Human Resources functions and for maintaining an inclusive and equitable company culture. This position champions the firm’s core values and is accountable for managing highly sensitive information, always acting ethically and with a high level of professionalism. The Director of HR will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the factory, with a particular focus on ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive work environment.
SOLA IMPACT AND NEW VENTURE
SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in Black and brown communities. SoLa is Southern California's largest for-profit affordable housing developer and is currently in construction on over 2,000 affordable housing units across Southern California. SoLa currently owns and manages over $1.2 billion of multifamily assets, almost all of which are in low-income, Black and brown communities.
SoLa's new venture is reinventing multifamily housing creation by building the first and only standardized modular housing factory. The new venture is a comprehensive manufacturing system designed, engineered, and built to consistently produce a high-quality, low-cost, net-zero ready, and most importantly, standardized, modular housing product. This a Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California that will deliver between 1,000 – 1,500 modular housing units per year by 2025. Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s objectives and manufacturing goals.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures that comply with labor laws.
- Provide guidance on workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning specific to the manufacturing environment.
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment process to attract skilled manufacturing professionals, from developing job descriptions to sourcing and interviewing to offer negotiation and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR databases.
- Proactively address and resolve employee concerns and conflicts, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Handle all workers comp matters and collaborate with the safety department to ensure a safe workplace.
- Develop and implement performance management systems tailored to the manufacturing environment and provide guidance to managers on performance evaluation, goal setting, and career development.
- Oversee the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
- Develop and implement recognition and reward programs to foster employee motivation and engagement.
- Assist with general administrative duties and office management as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent in English and Spanish required.
- 7+ years of Human Resources and operations experience in a high growth environment.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or related field preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations.
- Proven experience as an HR leader in a manufacturing or industrial setting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, and senior management.
- Experience in managing complex employee relations issues, including grievances and disputes.
- Proficient in MS Office, (computer systems, programs, software)
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent follow through
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Ability to collaborate with others and utilize knowledge and resources to identify quality solutions
- Well-developed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
