Full Job Description

SUMMARY:

This role combines a strong knowledge of finance and accounting with project management experience to plan and manage the implementation of finance, accounting, and investor-related processes and systems. The role entails collaborating with internal and external teams to plan project timelines, budgets, and objectives. During the implementation, responsibilities include active participation in implementation, tracking project progress, preparing reports for team updates, and ensuring the project remains within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Leadership and Implementation:

·         Spearhead projects for new processes, systems, and data migrations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

·         Actively participate in strategic planning for process improvement, systems optimization, and implementations.

 

Consultant and Vendor Management:

·         Cultivate and manage relationships with consultants and vendors, ensuring their contributions align with project objectives.

 

Project Management:

·         Serve as the primary internal and external lead for all project facets, encompassing:

-        Defining, documenting, and communicating project scope.

-        Conducting and documenting project cost-benefit analysis.

-        Identifying and communicating project risks.

-        Assigning and overseeing tasks to internal and external teams.

-        Managing project timelines and milestones.

-        Regularly updating the team on project status.

 

System and Process Testing and Documentation:

·         Oversee and participate in the testing of new systems or processes.

·         Document newly implemented processes and ensure they are accessible and understandable.

 

Training and Change Management:

·         Facilitate comprehensive training for end-users on new systems and processes.

·         Manage the deployment of new systems and processes, preparing employees and external partners for the change.

·         Monitor and report on the effectiveness and adoption of new systems and processes.

 

Security and Compliance:

·         Conduct routine reviews of system security access to ensure compliance with data protection standards.

·         Coordinate with the IT department to leverage existing technology and align with internal policies and security protocols

 

Continuous Improvement:

·         Regularly assess and optimize the effectiveness of new systems and processes, making adjustments as necessary to meet evolving business needs.

 

Example Projects

·         Build a process for transmitting data from our accounting system to our asset management portal.

·         Create efficiency and effective controls to improve vendor payment and investor distribution process.

·         Build a system to automate financial reporting and distribution.

·         Automate monthly bank reconciliations.

·         Deploy a new banking product for select bank accounts and implement banking controls.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or relevant functional area with advanced education preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in financial systems and processes.
  • Extensive experience in managing projects, including systems implementation, process improvement, and data migration.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects to fruition, with a focus on delivering tangible results.
  • Experience in managing consultants and vendor relationships, including interpreting and negotiating contracts.
  • Prior experience in real estate or private equity a plus.
  • Big 4 or public accounting or business consulting experience a plus.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with the following systems is advantageous but not mandatory: MRI, SQL, AvidXchange, Juniper Square, Northspyre, Visio, and Visual Basic.

 

Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is beneficial but not a prerequisite.

Salary Range: $90-130k annual
