The General Education Program Director plays a vital role in fostering a dynamic educational environment that prioritizes exceptional student learning outcomes in general education. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Instruction, the Program Director assumes responsibility for all facets of program administration and management. This encompasses curriculum development and assessment, as well as student progression and retention. The Program Director also oversees faculty members and ensures program effectiveness and student satisfaction. Essential Functions:
- Advances the university’s and general education program’s mission and objectives through systematic evaluation of student learning and advancement of outcomes.
- Oversees general education faculty recruitment, qualifications, development, and evaluation according to institutional and accreditation guidelines.
- Provides leadership to general education faculty for the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the program’s curriculum plan in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
- Collaborates with academic programs to provide essential connections between GE and discipline-specific core pathways.
- Monitors all program publications to ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
- Generates needed communications, reporting, changes, and representations with accreditation commissions and agencies.
- Serves as general education faculty in the program’s science courses.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A graduate-level or terminal degree in a science discipline represented in the university’s general education program from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience leading a general education program or related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a full-time faculty teaching in a general education program.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in an online teaching and learning environment.
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Action oriented, innovative thinking, and flexible.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work within a deadline-oriented environment.
- $110,000-$120,000 Salary is based on education and experience

- Physical ability to perform the duties as assigned to the program or department.
- Proficient in operating electronic keyboards and other office machines.
- Effective verbal communication skills in answering telephones and providing information with clarity and distinctness.
- Ability to read fine print and operate computers with precision.
- Ability to understand voices over the telephone and in person.
- Able to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing between 10-25 pounds as needed.
