Role Overview:
We are a dynamic and fast-growing e-commerce startup looking for a versatile and dedicated HR Generalist to join our team. This role is integral to the growth and culture of our company, helping to build and maintain a strong, cohesive team that aligns with our mission and values. As an HR Generalist, you will manage the full spectrum of HR activities, with a primary focus on recruiting, hiring, and onboarding. You will also handle other key HR functions, ensuring a positive employee experience and compliance with employment laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruiting and Hiring:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent that aligns with our company culture and goals.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, including posting job ads, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand their staffing needs and ensure a smooth hiring process.
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline to anticipate future hiring needs.
Onboarding:
- Design and oversee a comprehensive onboarding program to ensure new hires are well-integrated into the company.
- Conduct orientation sessions and provide new employees with the necessary resources to succeed in their roles.
- Coordinate with IT and other departments to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Employee Relations:
- Act as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
- Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee issues and facilitating conflict resolution.
- Assist in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives to maintain high morale and retention.
HR Administration:
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in developing and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Administer employee benefits programs and coordinate with external providers as needed.
- Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate and timely submission of employee data.
Performance Management:
- Collaborate with managers to support performance management processes, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
- Assist in identifying and addressing training and development needs.
Compliance:
- Stay informed about labor laws and regulations, ensuring company practices comply with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Assist in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Culture and Engagement:
- Help nurture and maintain a positive company culture that reflects our core values.
- Plan and execute company events and activities that promote team building and employee engagement.
Reporting and Team Structure:
- Report directly to the Head of Finance & Talent.
- Collaborate with all departments on hiring & HR needs.
Location and Work Environment:
- Hybrid work model: 2 days in-office per week, remaining days remote.
Initial Engagement:
To ensure the best fit for both the candidate and Alabaster Co, this role will start as a part-time position for the first three months. This trial period will allow us to mutually assess the fit and performance before transitioning to a full-time role. We value making thoughtful and deliberate hiring decisions, especially as a small team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
