We are seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator and Support professional to join our team. In this role, you will assist in maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting our organization's IT systems. You will work closely with senior administrators to ensure the smooth operation of our network infrastructure and provide technical support to end-users.
Key Responsibilities
User Support and Interaction – (35%)
- Triage, resolve, or escalate customer inbound requests through the IT ticketing system, and other channels such as phone, email, and chat.
- Evaluate time sensitive requests and escalate as needed in a timely manner to minimize SLA breaches.
- Assist in the development and maintaining of an incident and problem resolution knowledgebase as well as writing technical documentation on existing services and systems.
- Ensure all IT equipment is asset tagged and keep track of asset tag inventory list.
- Install network printers, network peripherals and appliances.
- Manage IT equipment inventory to ensure availability with expected staffing.
- Maintain a first-class level of customer service, ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and appropriately
IT User Provisioning – (15%)
- Provision and deprovision employee IT hardware and applications.
- User Account Lifecycle management from granting access rights, review/update, and deactivation.
- Administer and setup user accounts, access, roles, licenses, permissions, and settings for applications for onboarding and offboarding.
- Conduct training for new employees, enhancements, and reinforcement material.
- Provide end-user training on IT applications, including, but not limited to: Microsoft 365 applications, Encompass, Confluence, Dialpad, and other basic computer-related skills.
- Administer and setup user accounts, access, roles, licenses, permissions, and settings for applications for onboarding and offboarding.
Infrastructure and System Administration – (20%)
- Assist in the administration of applications such as Encompass, Microsoft 365, Dialpad, Active Directory, and Mimecast.
- Assist in the management of infrastructure including, but not limited to, VMware, Azure, Windows Server environment (ADDS, DNS, FS, Print Services), Web Servers, Database Servers (Azure SQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL), cloud-based applications, and integrations to ensure optimal health and performance of all systems.
- Assist in the management of networks consisting of physical and virtual firewalls (e.g. FortiGate, Azure Firewall), FortiSwitch, WAPs, and L2 switches.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration.
- Assist with cybersecurity monitoring and administration.
General IT Tasks – (25%)
- Assist with projects & change management tasks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all IT and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all organizational levels.
- Assist with managing relationships with multiple IT vendors in areas such as license management, upgrades, and renewals.
- Other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are a plus.
