We are looking for a Junior Accountant here at INSHUR. You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories, including the US, UK, and the Netherlands, and new European countries as we expand.
Supported by the senior members of the team, you'll be joining a friendly team of 11 who believe in the mission of using technology and automation to establish processes and systems to improve accuracy of the accounting and reporting functions.
What you'll do
As our Junior Accountant you will be responsible for day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable and general ledger support. The role also involves assisting the senior accountant with month-end close and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness and in accordance with company policy.
- Prepare and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy of GL coding.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor records, update contact information and handle vendor inquires.
Accounts Receivable
- Generate and distribute invoices to customers in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track outstanding customer invoices and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Record and allocate customer payments to the appropriate accounts.
- Assist in the resolution of customer billing inquiries and discrepancies.
General Ledger Support
- Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and reconcile GL accounts, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on special projects and process improvements.
We don’t have a checklist of skills - our hiring process is much more about aptitude and passion than ticking boxes. So don’t worry if you’ve not used a particular tool or checked off all the listed skills and experience.
That said, below is a guideline of skills that we think would make you successful in this role.
- 2-5 years accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Public Accounting experience is a plus.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Candidate desirable.
- Knowledge of and experience applying US GAAP accounting standard
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with a focus on Excel including v look-up, pivot tables, etc.
- Sage Intaact and/or Velocity experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
- Proactive, dynamic, team player, highly motivated, and strong desire for learning.

Our budget for this role is $50,000 to $65,000 and we will take into account your previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.
