POSITION TITLE: Lead Adjunctive Therapist (CTRS/OTR/ATR)
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Director of Clinical Services
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The primary role of the Lead Adjunctive Therapist is to plan and implement therapeutic activities to reduce symptoms of mental illness for adult, and adolescent patients based on Leisure Therapy Assessment. Activities may include arts and crafts, outdoor activities, music, art, dance, drama, sports and movement. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team providing services to adult, adolescent or child patients under Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital's care for emotional or substance abuse problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts group and individual sessions for patients, within scope of practice, which may draw from mediums such as art therapy, movement therapy, occupational rehabilitation, exercise, games or leisure activities
- In collaboration with interdisciplinary treatment team, develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans.
- Demonstrates sound application of activity therapy theory and methodology
- Provide individual activity therapy as order by patient’s physician
- Evaluate patient progress and document results in medical record and department records
- Contributes effectively to discharge planning
- Perform routine and assigned clinical and administrative tasks
- Exhibit a commitment to quality and process improvement
- Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standard
- Attends Treatment Team Meetings
- Oversee the Activity Staff and lead the Activity Department
- Complete Activity staff performance evaluations and provide performance management and supervision to all assigned staff
- Complete Recreation Therapy Assessment/Daily Leisure Assessment within 72 hours of admission
Requirements
POSITION Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, or Art Therapy
- Current CTRS, OTR, or ATR certification/registration
- Three years of experience in a health care field with emphasis in Occupational and/or Recreational therapy preferred.
- Current CPR certification (or within initial 30 days of employment).
- Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention program as approved by the CNO.)
- Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disorders
- Demonstrated group process, teaching or training skills
- Experience in psychiatric care environment preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times
- Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
- Proficiency with software and/or equipment (Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as well as possessing the skills to lead, influence, and motivate others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding organization
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
· Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
· Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time
· Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population
· Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy
· Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information
· Vision: see details of objects at close range
· Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
· Reach forward, up, down, and to the side
· Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day
