Opportunity: Our client is looking for a Lead Stress Engineer to lead and manage the structures team and will have a major part in the design of their product.
Requirements: You have 10+ years of experience working in the aerospace industry and have previously lead an engineering team.
Requirements
Core responsibilities
- Develop strategic plans to meet requirements such as damage tolerance, durability, static strength, stiffness, stability margin, fatigue life, thermal performance, etc.
- Assess and aid in the publication of stress analysis documentation.
- Assist in design evaluations and the release of components.
- Provide support for component and assembly testing, encompassing definition, planning, requirement establishment, and report generation.
- Offer guidance, both procedural and technical, to the stress team to maintain high-quality analysis work.
- Conduct structural analyses using both classical hand calculations and finite element analysis techniques, covering both composite and metallic materials.
- Maintain direct communication with mechanical design teams, structural testing teams, integration teams, and DERs (Designated Engineering Representatives).
- Contribute to the definition of stress methods.
Required
- B.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience working in the aerospace industry
- Previous experience managing or leading an engineering team
- Strong understanding of free body diagrams, loading scenarios and behavior of aircraft components
- Perform analysis on aircraft powerplant systems
- Experience with aircraft certification
- CAD experience
- Experience with hand calculations and FEA (nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of metallic and composite structures)
Ideal candidate
- M.S. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- 15+ years of industry experience
- Experience with Femap/Nastran or Abaqus/CAE
- Experience with MRB
- Knowledge of FAR Part 23, 27, and 29
- Experience with flight test or test benches
- Previous experience working within the aircraft certification program
