Full Job Description
The Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library in Temecula, California is seeking a part-time Library Associate 2 in the Children’s Department. If you have a passion for working with children, customer service, and serving the public, we would love for you to take this opportunity to apply. The Library Associate 2 performs a variety of tasks in the Children’s Department under the direction of management, including story times, programming, outreach opportunities, library tours, and maintaining the library collection. You will also assist patrons with reference inquiries and provide them with excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
· Plan and execute engaging and riveting story time and programs for all ages.
· Provide reader’s advisory by becoming familiar with library collection materials and resources, including AR and Lexile levels.
· Maintain the library collection, ensuring materials are properly labeled, organized, and accessible.
· Assist with library programs and events, including set-up, promotion, and facilitation.
· Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement new services and programs.
· Stay informed about changes and trends in library services and technologies.
· Maintain flexibility in an ever-changing environment.
· Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
An individual should possess the knowledge skill and abilities listed and meet the amount of education training and or work experience required.
· HS Diploma or GED.
· Previous experience working in a library or similar setting.
· Knowledge of library systems and procedures.
· Strong customer service skills, with the ability to assist and communicate effectively with library patrons of all ages.
· Familiarity with cataloging standards and principles.
· Proficient in using library databases and online resources for research.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (35) pounds books, papers and other materials.
· Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time to maintain focus on projects, patrons, and staff.
Benefits
HOURS PER WEEK: 20
Hourly Rate: $16.00
