Full Job Description
The Simi Valley Public Library is seeking a Library Associate 3 in the role of Adult Library Services Assistant.
Position Summary:
The Library Associate 3/ Adult Library Services Assistant works under the direction of the Adult Librarian. Tasks include assistance with collection maintenance, adult programming, outreach and customer service. The Adult Assistant manages library room reservations and is a shift supervisor on evenings and/or weekends.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
- Provides excellent customer service to a diversity of people at all library service points
- Welcomes and greets customers and maintains an approachable, positive and helpful attitude throughout customer interactions
- Assists with adult collection maintenance tasks such as weeding and displays
- Maintains strong relationships with community partners associated with adult programming
- Plans and executes adult programs at the direction of the Adult Librarian
- Manages Community Room reservations, scheduling, rental agreements and payments
- Participates in library outreach
- Attends and contributes to the Library Operations team meetings, tasks and committee work
- Supervises staff on evening and/or weekend shifts
- Maintains CPR and First Aid certification as a shift lead
- Accepts and processes fees
- Provides word-of-mouth promotion about library services and programs
- Addresses or escalates customer conduct or safety issues
- Follows all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
The successful candidate will posses the knowledge, skills and abilities listed:
- Bachelor's Degree or some college completed
- Two years of library experience preferred
- Proficiency with library technology and a quick learner with new systems, platforms and devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to supervise as a shift leader
- Availability to work a regular schedule that includes some evenings and/or weekends

The rate of pay for the full time (40 hours per week) position is $17.50 per hour and includes benefits such as
