Hello Sunshine is seeking an experienced and versatile Manager, Business affairs to handle a high volume of development and production matters for television (scripted and unscripted) and feature projects, as well as digital/social media content, brand partnerships and experiential events. Position provides general support and advice to business executives, in-house development and production teams and other departments on various matters. Responsibilities include supporting the business & legal department by tracking options and agreements, as well as drafting and negotiating, with moderate supervision, various development, and production agreements from term sheet to long form This individual will handle a diverse range of legal matters related to the development, production, co-production, licensing, and exploitation of programming and initiatives across the Hello Sunshine slate.
Job Description
- Working with senior business/legal executives to handle legal matters during development, production and delivery of original content, including evaluating rights, managing risk across a broad range of production-related topics and performing other production lawyer duties
- Draft, negotiate, review, analyze and interpret a variety of agreements including NDAs, releases, location agreements, crew deals, rights, talent, producer, director, and other production agreements in an accurate and timely manner
- Liaise with internal business, finance and creative clients, as well as business & legal affairs department contacts and outside counterparties (e.g., talent attorneys and agents, production company counsel)
- Assist in creating, updating, analyzing, and managing internal business & legal affairs tracking systems (deals, options, deadlines), department templates and agreements
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- JD and member of a state bar in good standing
- 1-3 years of relevant experience at an entertainment law firm, media entertainment company, talent agency and/or business affairs department
- Working knowledge of entertainment industry dealmaking. Must be detail-oriented and possess superior drafting, negotiation, communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Able to draft, review, analyze and revise deal structures, parameters and documentation relating to development and production projects.
- Able to leverage, interpret, and synthesize information from multiple sources, apply reason and logic, make autonomous, common-sense decisions and work with strict and conflicting deadlines, heavy workflows, and changing priorities, while managing to make accurate legal assessments
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work in Los Angeles, CA
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed
