Fuse is looking for an entry-level Mechanical Engineer (junior level) to join our team onsite in San Diego, CA. We are looking for someone ready to jump in with our Engineering team and help support the design and development of our mechanical products and subsystem solutions. Apply your analytical and detail-oriented mindset to develop and improve Fuse’s products for U.S. defense agencies that improve the sharing of information among warfighters distributed throughout airborne, maritime, and ground environments. Through a collaborative effort with the Electrical, Systems, and Production teams, this role will support Fuse Engineering to build communications, networking, and computing solutions for the warfighter. This is an entry level role with our team, with great potential for growth.
Warfighter-focused design and development is at the heart of Fuse processes. Throughout Fuse development our experienced team applies the best practices of commercial design-thinking, coupled to the DoD systems engineering framework. The coupling of commercially proven design with rigorous systems engineering gives Fuse an ability to rapidly design, develop and field solutions well inside of typical military design cycles. Fuse rapidly innovates, putting creative concepts into action and refining those concepts through hands-on testing, user evaluation, and iterations.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare new concept designs of products and mechanical subsystems that meet requirements and expectations
- Mechanical design and development for sustaining engineering of our flagship and existing products
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to generate the detailed design of the mechanical components which include design of machined, 3D printed, and sheet metal manufactured parts along with cabling and circuit boards.
- Interpret and generate 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards
- Maintain PDM, bills of materials (BOMs) and releasing of mechanical prints
- Support prototype and first article hardware builds
- Compile information for customer reports, user manuals, and work instructions

Requirements
We are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in Mechanical or Design Engineering
- Experience with SolidWorks
- Familiarity with ASME Y14.5
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn
- Understanding of tolerances and effect on design
- Experience with hand tools and prototyping techniques.
- Self-starter with ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Must be U.S. Citizen.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD clearance per business requirements.
