About the role

This candidate will be extremely flexible and enjoy a “fast-paced” environment where priorities evolve as the business and brand develops and grows from its core in the natural channel to more mainstream distribution channels, in food service, brand partnerships, and wholesale verticals. This position is accountable for establishing Voyage Foods brands in select channels and customers aligned with our go-to-market strategy for the channel.. They are charged with developing segment insights, positioning, sub-segment value propositions and suggested portfolio lifecycle management for Voyage Foods’ current and future products.    This role will strategically build and manage programs that enhance the Voyage brand and generate significant revenue contribution to the Voyage Foods business, expanding the business development network for greater brand recognition and high value partnerships. The Director, Food Channel works with the VP of Sales to develop strategic priorities and ensure new opportunities align with the Voyage brand and product goals for volume, spending, and profit.. 

This position requires an entrepreneurial candidate that “lives and breathes” the core values of the company and can communicate those values to new and existing partners. This person will also provide input on the expansion of the partnership plan and play a critical role in the future growth of both our core business and future innovation. 

What you’ll do

  • Establish and achieve segment partnership goals and objectives in the Food and Mass Channels
  • Manage annual customer forecasts (S&OP process) and plans, and ensure effective plan execution to deliver against our brand and business goals and objectives.
  • Foster and manage partnerships with customers by: participating in trade and distributor shows, customer planning meetings, leveraging customer specific programs where appropriate, work in-market with account managers to increase their knowledge of Voyage Foods products.
  • Evaluate, train, and manage a network of business development partners (Broker Sales Agencies) in a way that creates a highly motivated, effective team to optimize placement and sales of Voyage Foods products and points of availability. Assist in management of any 3rd party sales and merchandising teams including performance standards, quarterly goals and objectives and assess performance in securing new points of distribution.
  • Work directly with key strategic accounts to optimize program effectiveness and execution against Voyage Foods’ strategies.
  • Execute approved sales & brand strategies and tactics, and ensure planned programs are both effective and efficient to deliver desired performance results.
  • Actively participate on the Sales Team and broader Voyage Foods community through collaboration, communication, and best-practice sharing with other leaders, managers and stakeholder groups.
  • Manage all trade spending within the approved annual AOP. Work with Sales Operations, Marketing and Finance teams to analyze incremental opportunities and ROI of base.
  • Proactively collaborate with all functional areas of Voyage Foods (Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Human Resources, Customer Marketing) and other channels in Sales to facilitate processes with new customers and to avoid conflicts with our core channels of distribution.

Technical Expertise Required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (excel, power point, word, email, IRI/SPINs, Hubspot, Asana
  • Ability to create  compelling sales stories and brand / product presentation materials for customers, investors, and trade.

Education/Training Required

  • A business degree emphasizing sales, marketing or other job-related fields or equivalent business experience.
  • 10+ years of creating value-added partnership and value creation among and between brands and products.
  • Strong track record managing relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders and leading multi-stakeholder groups 

Physical Demands

  • Frequent travel, approximately +45%, is required

Compensation

United States-based roles only: The Annual salary for this role is between $109,225-$128,500 plus immediate participation in our benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of Voyage Foods and receive an equity grant as part of their total package. At Voyage Foods, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
