Full Job Description

We are searching for a NMR specialist with expertise and practical experience in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. This role will be part of a larger team of experts who specialize in GC, GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, LC, LC/MS/MS, ICP and many more analytical techniques. You will work primarily as our NMR specialist, but also should be willing and able to help run analyses on these other systems.

What you’ll do:

You will have the opportunity to work in a independent 17025 ISO-accredited laboratory that invests heavily in state of the art instrumentation and analytical technologies, and partners with the world’s greatest winemakers to provide them with tools and technical expertise to support their winemaking craft. ETS operates a wide array of analytical systems. Your specialty will be in NMR but you should be ready to help across the range of instrumentation.

You'll be joining our team in St. Helena responsible for analysis and laboratory support functions in a fast paced, high through-put production laboratory. We boast a diverse and highly trained team with a broad range of experience and advanced degrees. Although we’ve grown to five locations, we maintain the values of a family-owned business.

No experience in the wine industry is required.

Requirements

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing analysis in a commercial laboratory serving the wine, beer, cider, spirit, and other beverage industries
  • Production analysis using qualitative and quantitative NMR
  • Operation and routine maintenance of GC, GC/MS, GC/MS/MS systems
  • Generation of ISO 17025 quality system-compliant data
  • Working with team members to execute analysis conforming to SOPs and to maintain good record keeping practices
  • Identifying instrument problems and performing routine troubleshooting
  • Participation in and promotion of continuous improvement efforts within the laboratory

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in both qualitative and quantitative NMR application
  • Experience in a production laboratory
  • Experience with sample preparation and extraction techniques
  • Experience with chromatographic techniques and instrumentation
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 environment preferred
  • Experience with ChemStation and MassHunter software preferred

Must be able to sit or stand for significant periods of time while performing a variety of tasks.

Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions such as capping and uncapping tubes or sample containers

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is: $60,000 - $110,000. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
