RemotelyHR is an HR Consulting firm, located in Orange County, California. We assist small to medium-sized businesses in California with their HR tasks, compliance, hiring, and recruiting. We're looking for a part-time Payroll Specialist to join our HR team.
Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including calculating wages, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements, and maintaining detailed records. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately calculate and process payroll for all clients, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, and commissions.
- Update payroll records with new hires, terminations, and changes in employee information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding payroll, taxes, and wage and hour laws.
- Maintain and update payroll databases with employee information, deductions, and tax statuses.
- Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with HR to address and resolve payroll issues.
- Administer employee deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings.
- Coordinate with HR and benefits providers to ensure accurate benefit deductions and contributions.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have previous payroll/HR experience.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Gusto, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently on projects, as assigned.
Benefits
Benefits and Pay:
- Pay: $24- $28/hour, DOE
- Monthly WFH reimbursement: $50/month (for cell phone and computer usage, and internet expenses)
- Remote position, with occasional in-person meetings: This is a work-from-home position but you must live in the Orange County area, as there may be occasional in-person meetings.
- Part-Time: Estimated 10-15 hours per week
