Full Job Description
As an In-patient Pediatric Occupational Therapist for a non-profit hospital, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of patients by providing high-quality occupational therapy services. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges. Your goal will be to help patients regain independence in their daily activities and improve their overall quality of life.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' functional abilities and limitations.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and evidence-based practice.
3. Provide therapeutic interventions to enhance patients' performance in daily activities, such as self-care, work, and leisure.
4. Design and fabricate adaptive equipment or recommend assistive devices to support patients' independence.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, physical therapists, and speech therapists, to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment.
6. Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and home exercises or modifications.
7. Monitor and document patients' progress throughout the course of treatment.
8. Maintain accurate and timely records of therapy sessions, assessments, and treatment plans.
9. Stay updated with the latest research, techniques, and advancements in the field of occupational therapy.
10. Adhere to professional ethics standards, confidentiality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
1. Valid state license or certification as an Occupational Therapist.
2. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
3. Solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
4. Strong clinical skills and ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach towards patients.
8. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient cases.
9. Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
10. Previous experience in an in-patient or hospital setting is preferred.
