Full Job Description
The Product Development,Coffee Intern will help our product development team develop and prepare prototype formulations. They will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of sensory samples, small scale consumer samples, compound dilutions and flavor blending for production.
This is a non-exempt, non-supervisory position based at our Oakland, CA HQ location and will report directly to the R&D Project Lead.

What you’ll do
- Prepare small and medium scale formulation batches of various products
- Preparation of compound stocks and dilutions as needed
- Preparation of compound blends for production as needed
- Help with product development and sensory analysis
- Help with experimental design, execution, analysis and reporting
- Safely handle and prepare large volumes of laboratory chemicals
- Document all experimental procedures in a laboratory notebook
What makes you successful / What makes a great candidate
- Studying Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or a related field. Second or third year students preferred.
- Knowledge of solution preparation and use of lab equipment including analytical balances and micropipettes is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and appetite for personal/professional growth
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to stay organized
- Ability to effectively communicate with different functional groups
Physical Demands
- Tasting and comparing the tastes of a full range of foods and food products (including dairy, fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, grains, nuts, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, spices, and other foods) for different characteristics, such as appearance, smell, taste, flavor, and quality of ingredients.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Compensation
United States-based roles only: This is a termed, non-exempt position with an hourly range of $22.00-$25.00 per hour. At Voyage Foods, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
