Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Membership Outreach and Organizational Services Manager to join our team at the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing membership outreach efforts, enhancing member services, and supporting professional and leadership development programming for nonprofit organizations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with our diverse membership base and contribute to the growth and impact of the nonprofit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Membership Outreach:
Develop and implement strategies to attract new members and retain existing ones.
Cultivate relationships with individuals and organizations interested in joining or partnering with our organization.
Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email campaigns, and networking events, to promote membership opportunities.
Collaborate with marketing and communications team to create compelling materials and messaging to attract potential members.
2. Member Services:
Serve as the primary point of contact for current members, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing support.
Develop and manage member benefit programs, ensuring they align with the needs and interests of our membership base.
Coordinate member events, workshops, and networking opportunities to foster engagement and community-building among members.
Collect and analyze feedback from members to continuously improve the quality of services and offerings.
Assigned to manage the budget and fiscal procedures including but not limited to invoices, payment requests, and reconciliation of revenue and expenses related to the membership program.
3. Professional and Leadership Development Programming:
Design, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions focused on professional and leadership development for nonprofit professionals.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and partner organizations to deliver high-quality programming tailored to the needs of our members.
Evaluate the effectiveness of professional development initiatives through participant feedback and program assessment.
Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and resources in nonprofit management and leadership development.
Assigned to manage the budget and fiscal procedures including but not limited to invoices, payment requests, and reconciliation of revenue and expenses related to the Learning & Leadership programs.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Consulting, Marketing and Communications, and Finance, to ensure alignment of efforts and achievement of organizational goals.
Serve as the primary point-of-contact for direct inquiry or referrals for consulting services and learning & leadership programs, facilitating connections between organizational needs and resources.
Collaborate with the Chief Capacity Building Officer to develop and implement strategies for membership growth and engagement.
Represent the organization at external events and meetings to promote partnership through our suite of capacity building resources including but limited to membership, consulting, and learning & leadership programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in membership management, outreach, or related roles within the nonprofit sector.
Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations and their unique challenges and opportunities.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing membership recruitment and retention strategies.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal—particularly copy writing and editing skills--with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
Proven ability to plan and execute successful events and programs in-person and virtually.
Knowledge of adult learning principles and experience in designing and delivering professional development programming.
Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and membership management software (e.g., Fundly, Salesforce).
Physical & Travel Requirements:
- This position can be based out of our Santa Rosa or San Rafael office with standard hours of Monday -Friday 9am to 5pm.
- Ability to occasionally travel throughout Marin and North Bay Area with occasional nights and weekends to support events/special projects.
- In addition to basic computer desk work, the employee is required to stand, walk, reach above shoulders, and climb or balance. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Compensation:
The budgeted starting salary that CVNL reasonably expects to pay is $72,000-84,000 annually depending on prior experience. This takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, external market comparisons for similar positions in similar geographic locations and size. Offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
