About the role
At its core, the Marketing team is charged with generating brand awareness and supporting every aspect of our business with earned media – B2B, Food Service, and Retail. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented passionate professional with incredible writing skills and speaking skills who can host media interviews and media friendlies in our office. You will be working closely with the Director of Marketing to build a sound strategy to generate buzz in print, radio, and TV, and then execute on the plan, sharing back insights and learnings. The role is ideal for someone who is gritty, a self-starter that’s looking to build their career, while helping level up the organization. There is room for rapid growth at Voyage.
This is an exempt, non-supervisory position based at our Oakland, CA HQ location and will report directly to the Director of Marketing.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute consumer and trade PR strategies across multiple verticals, with the majority of pitches focusing on product-related news, partner launches, thought leadership stories, sustainability and innovation initiatives, employer branding moments, and features on leadership
- Create and maintain a consistent flow of engaging stories about Voyage’s portfolio of products and their impact.
- Establish a deep understanding of Voyage to develop stories that translate to broad consumer audiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for product-related and cross-functional narratives
- Support in developing communication plans for partner announcements, ensuring alignment with Voyage’s brand and values
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to lead thought-leadership narratives and highlight leadership
What makes you a great candidate
- 3-4 years PR experience, preferably with a background in food and beverage
- Understanding of short versus long leads, how to execute print, radio, and TV interviews
- Extremely strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Exhibit strong process-oriented skills and passion for trying, learning, improving, and sharing best practices
- Strong people skills for hosting media friendly events and in-person interviews
- Demonstrate outstanding proactive and multi-tasking abilities
- Proven track record of being reliable, prepared, responsive, eager to learn and encouraging
- Acute attention to detail and follow through, and are very organized.

Compensation
United States-based roles only: The Annual salary for this role is between $109,225 - $147,775 plus immediate participation in our benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. All employees are owners of Voyage Foods and receive an equity grant as part of their total package. At Voyage Foods, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.
