About this Role
At Magpie, we are dedicated to transforming the way children learn to read. Our innovative kindergarten reading app, built with Unity, engages young minds through interactive and educational gameplay. We are looking for a Unity QA Engineer to join our StoryForge team, utilizing a Shift-Left QA strategy to enhance our product quality through comprehensive automated testing.
* Fully Remote - 6 Month Contract *
Our ideal candidate can work US hours and has experience working in remote-first, distributed teams.
Requirements
This Job is For You If You Have
- At least 2 years of experience in QA testing, including a minimum of 1 year specifically testing Unity applications.
- Skilled in using the Unity Engine and familiar with Unity Test Framework or similar automated testing tools. Strong understanding of automated testing frameworks and end-to-end (E2E) testing strategies.
- Exceptional analytical abilities with a talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
- Excellent communication capabilities, adept at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and capable of effectively reporting test outcomes.
- A meticulous approach to tasks with a relentless pursuit of quality in every aspect of your work.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and handle multiple priorities with finesse.
What You'll Do
- Lead the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of automated tests using Unity Test Framework, focusing on incorporating tests early in the development cycle to identify and resolve defects efficiently.
- Implement rigorous testing protocols to assure the highest quality of all game features and functionality, encompassing both functional and non-functional aspects such as performance, usability, and reliability.
- Champion the Shift-Left approach, integrating quality assurance processes at early stages of software development. Work closely with developers to understand features thoroughly and ensure technical feasibility.
- Efficiently manage bug documentation and tracking processes. Collaborate closely with the development team and QA Lead to prioritize and address bug fixes, ensuring effective solutions.
- Regularly evaluate and enhance testing strategies and tools to increase test coverage and streamline testing processes.
- Actively collaborate with the QA Lead to align on testing protocols and quality standards. Engage in regular team meetings, provide constructive feedback on product design, and report directly to the QA Lead on progress and issues.
- Oversee the application of stringent security measures to safeguard student personally identifiable information, adhering to relevant data protection regulations.
