The Company
- Halo Industries has invented a technology to replace a decades- old semiconductor material wire saw slicing process that wastes billions of dollars annually in high-value materials.
- Halo’s laser-based technology eliminates this waste from the silicon carbide (SiC) substrate manufacturing process, delivering improvements in both material cost and performance, while enabling accelerated growth for a diverse set of high-growth application markets, including the electric vehicle, grid infrastructure, industrial HVAC and other high-voltage power electronics sectors.
- Halo originally spun out of Stanford University in 2014, acquiring a significant series A round of VC funding in 2020 following the successful demonstration of the company’s precision material slicing equipment. Having recently closed on an $80M+ B round of VC funding, Halo is driving the fast-scale growth of the company’s team and manufacturing operations.

The Primary Function of Position
- The primary function for the Quality Technician is to perform product and process quality audits, disposition nonconforming product, review processing results, and generate certificates of analysis (COA) for customer shipments. A related responsibility is the keeping of associated records, and creation and improvement of quality-related procedures. Secondary functions include supporting customer/supplier quality issues, coordinating Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), assisting with document control, and assisting with various quality and productivity goals within a high volume manufacturing work environment.
- This role will work closely with the Quality Manager and Production Manager to achieve team performance goals in the areas of efficiency, yield, throughput, cycle time, scrap, inventory accuracy, and time lost accuracy. Goals are set in each of these areas for each quarter and overall team performance is measured against them.
- Duties may require interpreting results, using various inspection tools and software and participation in investigations when issues surface. Employee must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team environment. This position will participate in the continuous improvement of our products.
Position Responsibilities
- Disposition of Nonconformances: Learn customer specs and wafer quality standards and be trained to make Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection results, test data, and quality issues. Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify quality issues, root causes, and potential improvements. Implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance product quality and process reliability.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to company quality policies, regulations, and safety standards. Participate in internal and external audits as needed. Coordinate PPAP activities.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve quality-related issues in production processes. Work closely with the engineering team to address and resolve any technical problems.
- Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to junior quality control technicians and production staff on quality control procedures, techniques, and best practices.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and quality control methodologies. Proactively seek opportunities for professional development.
- Become trained and proficient at multiple manufacturing processes while meeting requirements for workmanship, safety and productivity.
- Develop a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of multiple processing stations, as well as the finished product.
- Properly complete manufacturing documentation. Initiate basic material requests, report quality issues, report efficiency, record measurements as needed.
- Identify discrepant materials/components verbally and in writing.
- Maintain the accuracy of identification and count of point-of-use materials. Accurately determine and report material shortages.
- Follow all corporate, regulatory, safety and production policies and procedures.
- Maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Escalate build issues through the proper channels and drive to resolution.
- Coach and effectively lead new technicians on builds when multiple technicians are required to complete projects.
- Be comfortable with working long hours when required to achieve deadlines.
Requirements
- Minimum High school diploma or equivalent military training, technical diploma, or equivalent experience, with an Associates degree in a technical field preferred.
- Must have a minimum 2-3 years of work experience, in an environment where consistently following detailed instructions is a must.
- Willing to learn / acquire knowledge in the field of wafer fabrication to advance technical skillset.
- High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail married with the ability to work quickly.
- Quality-focused with the ability to manage your time across multiple competing tasks and priorities.
- Have an aptitude for problem solving
