Full Job Description

Umoja Community Education Foundation seeks a Research Analyst to join the Research and Evaluation Team. This role is key to supporting the enhancement and presentation of the effectiveness and impact of Umoja’s programs through the meticulous analysis, visualization, and interpretation of program and operational data. The Research Analyst will collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Research and Evaluation and fulfill organizational research and evaluation needs, helping to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that inform program development and policy decisions.  

The Research Analyst will use statistical analysis and data visualization tools to monitor, evaluate, and report on program outcomes and trends, thereby influencing strategic initiatives and enhancing program effectiveness. The role will assist in developing materials to improve organizational understanding and use of data, playing a crucial role in supporting evidence-based decision-making processes that align with Umoja’s mission. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the development and implementation of data collection methodologies for Umoja’s various programs and initiatives. 
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, analyze program data to derive actionable insights and inform policy and program recommendations. 
  • Create and manage data visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau or similar software to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Assist in the management of data-sharing agreements and ensure the integrity and security of data. 
  • Contribute to preparing reports for grant applications, funding adjustments, and policy documentation. 
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager to support research partnerships and coordinate with external evaluators. 
  • Assist in developing training materials focused on data outcomes and analysis for Umoja staff and partners. 
  • Participate in Umoja events like the Regional Symposia and Statewide Conferences, providing data support and insights as needed.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, dynamic environment. 
  • Passion for and commitment to uplifting the African Diaspora 

  

Requirements

  • Alignment with UCEF’s vision and mission. 
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in applied research, data science, statistics, or a related field. 
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in research analysis or a closely related field. 
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in educational institutions with an understanding of navigating student research, data systems, policy, and legal frameworks.  
  • Proficiency in analytic software (e.g., Stata, Tableau, GIS) and MS Office suite (especially Excel).

Salary Range: $65,000-$77,000
