At the April Parker Foundation, we are committed to empowering historically underserved BIPOC communities across Orange and Los Angeles Counties. We offer culturally relevant programs that uplift individuals, families, veterans, and small businesses, helping to create a stronger and more connected community. The APHomes Rapid Rehousing Program plays a crucial role in this mission, offering transitional housing and comprehensive support to Transition Age Youth (TAY) as they work toward independence and stability.

The Resident Services Coordinator is an essential part of the APHomes Rapid Rehousing Program, dedicated to supporting Transition Age Youth (TAY) as they move toward independence. In this part-time, on-site role, you will oversee daily operations, provide emotional support, respond to crises, and facilitate life skills training. By collaborating with case managers and community partners, you’ll ensure residents have access to the resources and support needed for personal growth and housing stability.

Program Objectives:

The APHomes Rapid Rehousing Program aims to:

  1. Housing Stability: Provide safe, transitional housing to guide TAY participants toward permanent housing solutions.
  2. Supportive Services: Offer case management and tailored support focused on education, employment, and essential life skills.
  3. Community Integration: Create a strong sense of community, with the Coordinator offering guidance and fostering connections among residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise daily activities to maintain a secure and welcoming environment for residents.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance, helping residents navigate challenges and build resilience.
  • Respond to crises effectively, employing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
  • Encourage and assist residents with developing essential life skills, such as managing finances, preparing meals, searching for jobs, and managing their time.
  • Support program activities and participate in workshops and events designed to foster personal and social development.
  • Keep thorough records of incidents and daily happenings for transparency and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with case managers and staff to create personalized support plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
  • Connect residents with resources for counseling, education, job training, and healthcare.
  • Promote a positive community atmosphere by ensuring residents understand and adhere to house rules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth or in a residential setting is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships within a diverse community.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nonjudgmental approach.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with documentation systems.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Benefits

Resident Assistants are compensated at $21.62 per hour, with total wages and a rental subsidy equating to approximately $725.39 per week.
