Oakwood School in Morgan Hill is seeking a dependable and hard-working individual to work afternoon/evening hours starting immediately. This position is Monday – Friday 12:00 - 8:30 pm.
Summary
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the School Porter is responsible for assistance with campus maintenance, safety, and events. This position performs basic and routine maintenance tasks to ensure campus grounds and facilities are well maintained, functional, safe, and secure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Perform basic & routine tasks to ensure:
- Campus safety
- Campus cleanliness
- Well maintained and functional facilities
- Well maintained and functional grounds and landscaping
- Facilitate event set-ups, teardowns, and special projects with minimal supervision
- Maintain the highest level of service for all stakeholders consistent with school policy
- Collaborate and communicate with team members to help assure campus facilities needs are met and any issues reported
- Read all emails and internal communication methods to be familiar with what is happening on campus
- Work off of and update ticketing system to address facilities needs and requests
- Ensure compliance with time management policies including meal and rest periods
Other Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

- Support and follow school policies and procedures
- Attend various staff meetings, Back-to-School Nights, Open Houses, and other events as scheduled
- Student supervision and parking lot duty as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Willingness to perform custodial tasks and duties
- Ability to self start, think ahead, and take initiative with duties and responsibilities
- Successfully pass DOJ fingerprinting / background screening
- Valid driver license, clean driving record, and automobile insurance
- Customer-focused attitude in dealing with a variety of stakeholders and constituents
- Ability to read and write English; speak English and understand spoken English
- Experience using email and other basic computer programs (Google, Microsoft, etc.)
- Must be neat in appearance, dependable, and possess a positive attitude
Useful/Preferred
- General or specialized facilities maintenance experience
- Prioritization and excellent organization skills
- Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
- May be exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying (light to heavy weight material/appliances/equipment – 50 lbs. or more), climbing ladders/stairs, and walking on rooftops
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate small-motorized equipment (i.e., repetitive hand/wrist, gripping, and elbow motion)
- Must have normal range of hearing, vision, color discrimination, and depth perception for proper operation of machines and equipment
- Requires the use of appropriate safety equipment (e.g., goggles, masks, gloves, etc.)
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions, in high noise levels requiring hearing protection, and with lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints, etc.
Compensation
This position has an expected salary range of $20.00 - $24.00 per hour.
