Job Summary
The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for all transactional and reporting activities related to Accounts Receivable. This includes ensuring timely and accurate customer billing, collections, cash application and reporting. This individual performs the day-to-day processing of all transactions to ensure that company finances are maintained in an effective and timely manner; processes periodic management accounting reporting; analyzes daily business system transactions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles; and provides administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient department operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage customer accounts to ensure timely payments and accurate records
- Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments and initiate collection efforts
- Verify customer payment deductions and contact to resolve any discrepancies
- Run and review accounts receivable aging report regularly to identify and address outstanding accounts
- Prepare and send invoices to customers
- Maintain customer accounts in the accounting system
- Assist and coordinate with other departments regarding customer accounts
- Review bank transactions daily
- Process customer payments and apply them to the appropriate accounts
- Reconcile the receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Prepare and submit monthly statements to customers
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding their accounts
- Analyze accounts receivable data and identify trends
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports
- Develop and implement procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts receivable function
- Assist with periodic third party audits, providing supporting documentation
- Ensure accurate and complete customer information is maintained in the ERP
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from CFO and Management in a timely manner
- Participate in Month-End closing, special projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent years of experience in a related field
- 5-7 years of experience working in a similar role
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting structure, policies and procedures
- General understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Proficient PC skills and a working knowledge of ERP and Accounting software systems
- Proficient use of MS Office including Excel and Access
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $25.00 to $32.25 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
