As a vibrant, growing organization, FSSI is looking to expand our team.
We are currently looking for a Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our Software Development team in Santa Ana, CA. This position is responsible for working with IT and Management to define, implement, and enforce QA and security best practices for Application Development. This position will continuously review and enhance setups and workflows for production applications while ensuring all development changes are properly tested prior to release.
Hybrid Schedule: Required to work onsite at the Santa Ana facility 2 days a week and as requested by management.
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 – 5:00 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify inefficiencies with applications quality setups or workflows and implement efficient and effective solutions.
- Establish and enforce standard QA practices for the IT Team, ensuring that applications are tested for quality and security before release.
- Design and execute test plans and peer review checklists for code deployments.
- Perform all types of software testing including UI, UX, security, unit, integration, and performance testing, utilizing software testing tools as needed.
- Build and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines that automate quality and security testing, including Static Application Security Testing (SAST), unit tests, integration tests and Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST).
- Assist with updating security and QA related software to the latest stable release.
- Maintain software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness.
- Provide support, guidance, and education to FSSI employees regarding software QA.
- Lead projects related to Application Development QA enhancements.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred. Software Development testing, Application Security, or DevOps related certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a QA Engineer or related role focused on improving quality processes within a Software Development environment.
- Hands-on experience with creating, designing, and implementing test scripts.
- Experience testing and running source code and applications using software testing tools.
- Experience working with Software Development or DevOps groups.
- Experience using DevOps and QA software, including CI/CD, centralized logging, and automation tools.
- Capable of creating CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or other related DevOps software.
- In-depth knowledge of computer programming principles, including programming languages (C# preferred), software development methods, and platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, explain, and optimize the software development lifecycle.
- Fundamental knowledge of and experience with SQL databases, JavaScript libraries and .NET frameworks.
- Superior communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Git best practices.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle and feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, and focus adjustments.
