SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Marketing is responsible of all aspects of marketing for the Joseph Phelps Family of wines, including Insignia, Joseph Phelps Vineyards and Freestone Vineyards. The position is responsible for the development of long-term and annual marketing strategies and plans for all US and international markets. Working in conjunction with the Senior Directors, the position is responsible for the production and management of all promotional, point-of-sale, retail and communication materials. In conjunction with the Maison President, the position will manage the execution and implementation of approved marketing strategies working with the Moet Hennessy sales teams in the US and International markets. The Senior Director of Global Marketing will spend time in the markets, as agreed upon with the Maison President, to assure the effective implementation of the marketing plans. The position will be a member of the Joseph Phelps Leadership Team, as such will participate in the development of Joseph Phelps overall annual and long-term business objectives and success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
Develop and implement innovative marketing plans – annual and long range - aligned with overall business goals, leveraging insights into market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
Brand Management
Nurture and elevate the brand identity through portfolio development, packaging development, compelling storytelling, creative content development, and consistent messaging across all channels.
Develop an allocation program to target accounts with Fine Wine on and off trade specialists.
Team Leadership
Effectively manage the Joseph Phelps Marketing Team, currently consisting of three marketing positions.
Content Creation
Collaborate with Senior Directors to develop all bottle and packaging designs.
Oversee the development and production of materials for retail sales at the Joseph Phelps Home Ranch.
Trade and Market Engagement
Construct annual plans to visit key markets in the US and internationally.
Develop direct relationships with key industry, trade and JPV patrons.
Represent Joseph Phelps at key industry events.
Partnerships and Collaborations:
Research and propose appropriate marketing partnerships and collaborations.
Market Research:
Stay abreast and ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences. Use insights to inform marketing strategies and adapt to changing market dynamics.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies to continuously drive innovative approaches to marketing communications for JPV and its brands from new media, platforms, or formats to identifying white space opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is a requirement, along with a minimum of ten years of experience in wine marketing, focusing on luxury and fine wine marketing, as well as a proven track record of success with international brands.
- Strong and demonstrable communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Excellent networking abilities, with the capability to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A passion for creativity, being comfortable with challenging the status quo, and continuously seeking new growth opportunities.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage marketing budgets, and achieve results, while maintaining unquestionable integrity.

- Capable of making timely and effective decisions, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A thorough understanding of the wine business, including leading teams, setting goals, and evaluating performance.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth culture, navigating ambiguity, and providing clarity to the team and stakeholders.
- Skilled in understanding profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, such as gross margin percentages and wine pricing.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze complex data and information.
- Capable of accurately utilizing various data sources to analyze relevant business situations, identify key issues and growth opportunities, and minimize negative trends.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in database management, experience in AMS operation, and expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Willingness to travel as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting.

Salary Range: $180,000- $210,000 +20% Bonus
