POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and curious Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with the order entry process, including billing, contract management, AR analysis, revenue recognition, and implementing process improvements. This role will be a key member of the Lynx finance team and is responsible for the successful execution of the low volume/highly detailed Order Entry/invoicing/revenue/cash collections process. In addition, this role will help identify and implement process improvements to streamline Lynx and its subsidiaries in both the GovCon and commercial space. This role allows room for growth, with the sales tax reporting and various compliance reports as potential responsibilities that can be absorbed. Working closely with the Controller, Accounting Manager and other functional departments across the organization, the Staff Accountant will play an integral role in helping Lynx grow and scale the operations for organic growth, as well as potential future mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, this role requires extra hours on the last business day of every month to ensure that all orders are processed.
Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Responsible for timely invoicing and purchase order processing for multiple entities
· Able to support the evaluation and optimization for order-to-cash processes across multiple business models and entities
· Month end reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
· Work cross-functionally to standardize procedures, drive process improvements, and streamline revenue accounting operations for three entities
· Assist Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant with ensuring revenue recognition for three entities
· Assist with timely reporting of internal revenue and invoicing metrics
· Oversight of Accounts Receivable Process to ensure customer accounts remain current
· Review customer contracts and purchase orders to ensure compliance
· Monitor and review backlog with Professional Services team
· Maintain customer portals and update customer certs & recs as needed
· Support year-end audit process and interface with external auditors
· Assist Accounting Manager with cost allocations and other close-related entries
Assist Controller and Accounting Manager with other projects as necessary
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
· 2-3 years of accounting and billing/invoicing experience
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or equivalent
· Attention to detail is required
· Understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition rules spanning software and services business models
· Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
· Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams, several of which are in other offices
· Experience with the following business applications is highly desirable: NetSuite, Salesforce, Customer portals, such as Exostar
· Intermediate/advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Practical hands-on experience in a fast-paced, rapidly growing, and evolving business environment
· Experience in software industry, professional services businesses or government subcontracts is preferred
