We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will be responsible for managing and improving the quality of components and materials supplied to Lightmatter. This role involves working closely with suppliers, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders to monitor, analyze, and enhance supplier performance. The SQE will play a critical role in ensuring that all incoming materials meet the required specifications and quality standards, contributing to the overall success and reliability of our products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supplier quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Evaluate and approve new suppliers through audits and assessments to ensure they meet company standards.
- Conduct regular quality audits of existing suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with quality requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for supplier-related quality issues.
- Work with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier quality issues that could impact development and production.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance, audit results, and corrective actions.
- Ensure all supplier quality documentation complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Collaborate with the procurement and engineering teams to ensure that supplier agreements include clear quality expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier quality issues, facilitating effective communication between suppliers and internal teams.
- Work closely with the procurement team to develop and manage supplier scorecards, driving improvements in supplier performance.
- Support new product introductions by ensuring that suppliers are capable of meeting the required quality standards.
- Analyze supplier quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on supplier performance, quality issues, and corrective actions for management review.
- Travel to supplier sites as needed to conduct audits, assessments, and on-site problem-solving activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), ISO standards, and industry-specific regulations.
- Proficiency in quality auditing and supplier assessment processes.
- Experience in the semiconductor, photonics, telecom industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and drive decision-making.
Preferred Qualification:
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with quality management tools and software is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role, including all US locations, is $180,000 to $230,000. Your base salary will be determined based on location, experience, educational background, and market data.
