Job Summary
The Warehouse Specialist will provide services and support to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract located at Edwards AFB, California and Palmdale, California. The Warehouse Specialist will perform duties primarily associated with SCA Labor Category Warehouse Specialist from the SCA Directory of Occupations 5th edition.
SURGE POSITION: Position authorized on a monthly basis by NASA. Anticipated length of service is up to 1.5 to 2 years.
LOCATION: Must be able to commute to Palmdale, CA location for the first ~90 days.
The pay for this position is $20.34/hour
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide industrial support in accordance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) section 10.7, Disposal Operations and section 10.8, Property Disposal Processing to support section 10.1, Closeout of aircraft programs at B703 and section 10.2, B703 Warehousing in accordance with NASA Instructions and Technical Directives
- Perform industrial actions in support of property disposal services for all excess Government personal property (supply, materials, and equipment) in accordance with NPR 4300.1 NASA Personal Property Disposal Procedural Requirements; NPR 4310.1, Identification and Disposition of NASA Artifacts; NPR 2190.1 NASA Export Control Program. 41 CFR 101 Federal Property Management Regulations; and 41 CFR 102 Federal Management Regulation
- Perform industrial actions in support of disposal operations on all SOFIA and DC8 closeout materials and equipment at NASA AFRC locations. Inventory to identify/verify all SOFIA and DC8 supplies, materials and equipment that will be disposed of on site at B703 or relocated to the main AFRC campus at Edwards
- Support the process to perform the disposition of all SOFIA and DC8 assets, supplies, materials, and equipment on site that are not transferred to the main AFRC campus at Edwards in coordination with the Property Disposal Officer (PDO)
- Prepare aircraft part NAMIS assets to be transported to AFRC’s main campus in a manner to maintain accountability and locations correctly in NAMIS
- Assist in construction of storage racks if needed
- Verify all parts have correct and legible tags and quality and traceability documents per NPR 4100.1F, AFOP 4100.1-001, AFOP 7900.3-005
- Receive training in all aspects disposal operations in accordance with NASA, GSA, and other Federal regulations and systems
- Utilize NASA provided computer equipment and software/databases to perform required job duties
- Be familiar with NASA publications, forms, and regulations listed in the PWS and how all work activities are performed in accordance with those references
- Verifying materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage location(s)
- Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, and removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment
- May be tasked, trained, and perform duties as a non-CDL Truck Driver or Material Handling Equipment operator, including operating: Medium Trucks, Forklifts, and Specialty Material Handling Equipment
- May make parts deliveries to customers using vehicles including golf carts, GEM carts, and light duty trucks
Requirements
- Experience working in a warehouse or other industrial environment and/or experience with driving trucks and/or other non-CDL required vehicles
- Experience using computers as part of a military or civilian retail / store / warehouse environment
- Must pass NASA forklift training and certification and pass NASA physical to receive forklift license
- Ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance
- Must be able to clearly read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and via email
- Must have current state driver’s licenses to operate materiel handling equipment and up to a medium duty, non-Commercial Driver’s License required, truck
- Clean driving record
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements
- Ability to be trained in the use of warehouse tools and manual material handling equipment
