Full Job Description
Founded in 2017, Eden GeoPower develops a technology to address the
current financial and environmental challenges in underground energy
extraction technologies with novel and groundbreaking ideas. Our goal is to
offer a sustainable solution that reduces or eliminates water use,
underground water contamination, wastewater production, air pollution, and
induced seismicity associated with current fracturing methods. The company
has secured funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of
Energy, MIT, MassCEC, Ameren, and other VC and industry investors.
We are looking for a motivated and creative research engineer to help us conduct
research, analysis, mining cost modeling and mining continuous improvement suggestions. This
includes assisting with geomechanical testing, mining experiment suggestions, geology sample analysis reviews,
measurements, data collection and analysis.
Tasks:
- Assist with suggestions of experiments to evaluate a scientific hypothesis,
- defining a process to conduct the experiments;
- Assist with mining/geologic data acquisition and analysis plus rock sample characterization;
- Ability to review and analyze general surface and underground mining methods;
- Assist with data collection, visualization, and analysis;
- Draw conclusions without sufficient data
- Prepare reports and presentations for projects as needed
Requirements
- Research into novel methods of rock breakage and experience in geomechanical laboratory testing
- Ability to perform the following tests: rock compressive strength, tensile, rock hardness, core flooding, permeability, P/S wave, Elasticity.
- Assist in mining laboratory experiments to test research findings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Mine planning and scheduling experience
- Knowledgeable of ore reserve estimation
- Assessing production rates to determine mine operation effectiveness
- Preparation of projects and updates for the Mining Manager
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to make sound recommendations with incomplete information.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to learn and to share knowledge which benefits the team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel to field sites
- To perform other duties as requested in the department.
