Full Job Description
As Scout’s Financial Analyst Intern, you will support financial analysis to inform strategic investment and financing decisions for Scout’s wind, solar, and storage projects. You will research specific markets’ financial incentives and regulatory structures for use in financial models, evaluate strategic investment strategy and support transactions logistically.
You will be assist with project-based financial modeling and preparing documentation, reporting and analysis to assist investment decisions. Your work will impact many functions across Scout, including Development, Origination/Power Marketing, M&A, Project Finance and Corporate Finance.
You will work alongside a high performing team of Associates and Senior Associates.
Key duties in your role may include the following:
- Learn and help maintain fully structured (tax equity, debt and cash equity) internal financial models with recent project and corporate assumptions.
- Coordinate with many different departments internally to update model assumptions.
- Support scenario analysis for investment decisions and contract negotiations.
- Support project finance and M&A transactions, including due diligence and investor relations.
- Assist in building models, tools, process and infrastructure that support the organization's accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
- Assist with project budgeting and corporate reporting.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in finance, business, economics, or quantitative field in an undergraduate or masters/MBA program.
- Passion for renewable energy and the commitment to advancing its adoption.
- Experience with project finance models relevant to investment banking and/or the renewable energy industry preferred.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivator with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Timeline and Location
This internship will begin in May 2024.
We anticipate a 40-hour-per-week commitment for 12 weeks.
Our ideal candidate will be willing to work at our Boulder, CO office.
