Wowza Media Systems is currently seeking a VP of Engineering to lead the Americas Wowza engineering teams, work with our VP of Engineering for Europe, and delivering our leading live streaming platform to tens of thousands of global customers. The ideal candidate will have a track record of building top performing engineering teams that deliver innovative solutions to create lasting business value. You will lead an already high performing development organization and retain and attract great engineers hungry to roll up their sleeves and solve tough streaming video and large-scale SAAS problems. You will continue to accelerate innovation and improve our industry-leading service levels on a native cloud solution. Experience in the video and audio streaming industry is a plus.

What you will do:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the engineering team to consistently deliver world-class products that solve customer problems and create business value.
- Manage the leaders across engineering to create efficient and effective organizational structure and processes for Wowza’s future product and service suite.
- Partner closely with the product team, CTO, VP of Engineering – Europe, and architects, to provide clear direction and prioritization to the engineering team, so we accelerate delivery of the right products for our customers.
- Build upon our existing team-oriented culture with a strong focus on creating a working environment that fosters creativity, open communication and accountability, and professional growth
- Establish, lead, and energize programs that mentor and coach engineers to develop their careers, identify strengths, and promote a culture of continuous development and learning.
- Work closely with the leaders in engineering to define long-term engineering vision and strategy.
- Improve the metrics that we use to communicate and drive results, and continuous improvements in engineering quality, efficiency, and performance, to align with department and corporate visions and objectives.
- Facilitate coordination across multiple development teams and disciplines such as product, support, marketing, and sales.
- Engage in continuous performance management to coach, recognize, celebrate, and inspire excellence while clearly communicating expectations and holding teams accountable.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the business and understand how your teams will deliver against those goals and objectives.
- Take initiative to explore, create, evangelize, and implement innovative technologies when appropriate to advance the business.
- This individual will instill a culture with a focus on security in the development of products, meeting both industry security standards and business requirements.
- The ideal candidate will partner with security roles to focus on mitigating risks and addressing active threats.
- Act as a technical leader during security incidents, breaches, outages, or other events where data or products are at risk
- Primarily responsible in leading a team of engineers to securely develop Wowza products, while following processes and procedures.
- Ensure the overall security, stability, and resiliency of Wowza software and other products, and the protection of customer data and content that interact with Wowza products.
- Analyze and drive architectural changes that balance innovation.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum 6 years of experience leading multiple teams of engineers, preferably in high-tech startup environment during periods of rapid growth.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with proven results in developing and managing high-performing teams
- Strong interpersonal skills, and high EQ, with the ability to build rapport with a wide variety of constituents and inspire others to be great.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience driving a 24/7/365 mindset and service offerings across single or multiple cloud providers with very high availability and resiliency
- Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure, services, and software
Benefits
Salary: $225,000-$250,000
- Bonus Eligible
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
