Full Job Description
The Workforce Development Specialist will support members of the Recovery Cafe who are in recovery from addiction, homelessness, and/or mental health challenges by providing employment training, job placement services, and ongoing support to enhance their ability to secure and retain meaningful employment. This job role is crucial in helping individuals rebuild their lives and achieve self-sufficiency through meaningful employment, playing a pivotal role in their long-term recovery and success.
Please note: To accommodate the needs of the Recovery Cafe members, this position will be required to work dayshift Sunday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Saturday and may include working some holidays.
Requirements
- Provide one-on-one career counseling to help members identify their employment goals based on their interests, skills, and recovery journey.
- Develop and implement training programs that include resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Assist members in finding suitable employment opportunities that match their skills and career aspirations.
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create job opportunities for members and educate employers on the benefits of hiring individuals in recovery.
- Offer ongoing support to employed members to ensure their success and retention in the workplace.
- Continuously assess and improve the workforce development program based on participant feedback and employment trends.
- Maintain detailed records of member progress and program effectiveness for reporting to stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and program development skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and job search engines.
- Empathetic and motivational approach to counseling.
- Knowledge of the challenges faced by individuals in recovery from addiction or mental health issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work compassionately and effectively with diverse populations.
- The environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability and a strong commitment to the principles of recovery and community support.
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent required.
- Prior experience in workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field is advantageous.
