Creative Hair Stylist (Natural Hair & Extensions)

Heat Free Hair is seeking a creative hairstylist to join our team as a freelance professional. In this role, you will work independently and collaboratively with our content team to create compelling and educational marketing materials that showcase our expertise in natural hair and extensions. At our Washington, D.C. office, you will use your exceptional styling skills to develop innovative hairstyles that resonate with a sophisticated customer who values quality and luxury. The ideal candidate is passionate about hair styling, has a marketing-first mindset, and is interested in content production. Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with Creative Director to strategically plan and execute high-impact marketing materials
• Create and execute expert level hairstyling techniques for brand marketing shoots; hair prep, braiding, extension installations, cut/color, etc. 
• Research and maintain knowledge of hairstyling trends to enhance brand content creation with the Creative Director 
• Produce content collaboratively and  independently, in-studio, to be used for brand marketing
• Engage in the development of new products, as assigned

Requirements

• In-depth Knowledge: Robust understanding of natural hair and virgin hair extensions (experience with kinky/curly extensions is a plus).
• Expertise in Hair Extension Installation and Styling: Installing and styling all extension types: wefted hair, clip-ins, tape-ins, ponytails, and wigs (u-part, full cap, lace, glueless)
• Creative Natural Hair Styling: Expert-level experience with creative styles on naturally curly/kinky hair: wand curls, bantu knot-outs, updos, braided styles, and more.
• Cut and Color Skills: Intermediate to expert-level experience in cutting and coloring hair with varying techniques.
• High Standards: Meticulous and maintains a high personal standard of excellence.
• Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a solution-oriented approach.
• Team Player: Charismatic, approachable, and possesses a strong work ethic.
• Portfolio Requirement: Must submit a portfolio of work to be considered.
• Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel as needed with advance notice.
• Brand Photoshoot Experience: Experience with brand photoshoots is a plus.
