Clearwaters.IT is seeking a remote EDI Mumps Developer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs application design and application development.
- Assists in providing technical input to the development process.
- Supports requirements analysis.
- May prepare and present application designs.
- Implements requirements and addresses deficiencies in software products.
- Advises customer in application use, capacity planning operations and performance management.
- Contributes to developing application and technical plans.
- Supports customers in the installation and use of applications.
- Perform as a key member involved in all aspects of the application including analysis, design, development and test site deployment.
- Develops specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and modifies/maintains the existing software.
- Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with customer, functional analyst, and tester; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
- Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, code comments and clear code.
- Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues. Responsible for written and verbal communication with other team members, documentation of version notes, technical manuals, work activities and other work processes.
- Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Development experience with MUMPS/Caché
- Extensive experience maintaining and enhancing legacy Mumps systems
- Aptitude and willingness for learning new technologies.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Ability to adhere to and meet defined schedules, milestones and deadlines.
- Ability to work multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical staff members.
- Ability to interface well with Professional Service staff and other non-technical members of the
- organization.
- Ability to work well autonomously and in a team environment.
- Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience on one or more full release project life cycles.
- Basic understanding of testing tools and unit and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies.
- 10 years of direct experience in the field required.
- 5 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
Preferred
- Previous experience with the VA Agile and SAFE set of processes
- Previous experience on Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Experience with HL7 messaging and SOA concepts
- Experience in integrating and/or interfacing system components (software)
- Experience in writing code using languages such as (and not limited to) MUMPS/Caché and Java. Experience with modern software design and development methodologies (e.g., OO, Agile, SCRUM, etc.).
- Experience using an Integrated Development Environment (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio, Delphi)
- Proficient with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, MS Office application suite, Visio and other presentation tools.
- Strong understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management).
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- BA in Computer Science, Engineering or other related technical field preferred.
