Job Overview: Seeking a proactive Junior FOIA Analyst to join our team, supporting the management and processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. This position is ideal for junior-level professionals looking to expand their experience in FOIA operations, offering opportunities for growth and skill development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake and Initial FOIA requests.
- Assist in documenting project plans for FOIA requests, tracking milestones and deadlines.
- Communicate with FOIA requesters, providing updates on request status and addressing queries.
- Participate in training sessions and apply learned principles to improve FOIA process efficiency.
- Review documents and identify needs for external consultation or further internal coordination before release.
- Maintain and update records of FOIA requests and responses, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support internal teams in allocating resources for the timely fulfillment of FOIA requests.
- Help manage FOIA records, ensuring secure and organized storage.
- Contribute to the preparation and distribution of FOIA-related reports and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 4 years total experience and 2 years of experience in FOIA processing, to include Intake.
- Understanding of FOIA regulations, exemptions, and application in real-world scenarios.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
- Experience with FOIA management software and electronic document systems (such as FOIAXpress).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe Suite.
- Ability to analyze and apply FOIA legislation effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a Government background investigation.
