Full Job Description
Symmetrio is recruiting for their client, a leading medical device manufacturer, a candidate specializing in the development and implementation of market access and reimbursement strategies. This person will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing market access and reimbursement strategies. The candidate will collaborate closely with many parts of the organization, including regional and global government affairs, marketing, product development, and sales to ensure optimal patient access and reimbursement. The successful candidate will possess strategic and technical expertise to navigate reimbursement challenges and drive advocacy efforts. This position is based in the Washington, DC office and requires about 25% travel. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience in reimbursement and market access strategies. A BS in HPA or related degree is a must and a MBA is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop policy positions and lead strategy on health policy, coverage, Medicare payment, and other issues affecting patient access to medical products.
- Develop strong relationships with key government payors such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Advocate policy changes through comment letters, position statements, and presentations to federal and state policymakers.
- Execute market access strategies to secure and maintain reimbursement and patient access for solutions.
- Design and implement strategic recommendations to ensure optimal market access, particularly regarding reimbursement for medical technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to educate internal stakeholders and align reimbursement strategies with business objectives.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on reimbursement environment, policy changes, and market access risks.
- Represent the company before relevant associations and organizations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, incorporating company values into all department functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in reimbursement, market access, or policy strategies.
- Strong knowledge of federal healthcare programs, MedPAC, ACA implementation, and reimbursement for diagnostic and therapeutic devices.
- Ability to think strategically, translate strategy into tactical implementation, and motivate teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive positive change and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong editorial and proofreading abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a plus.
